Looking at today’s news on challenges to the corporate world, it would be fair to say that in the next 50 years; only 15 of the best 25 companies will still be around. What then are the real challenges of the 21st century economy?
One matter that came to mind is that high definition DVD (HD DVD) appears to have finally lost the battle against rival Blue-ray to be the standard for the next-generation DVD and compatible video equipment. Wal-mat will over the next few months, phrase out sales of HD DVD systems and discs.
By June this year, it will sell only products in the Blue-ray format. So HD DVD now begins dumping up to 50% off. Toshiba has thrown in the towel in the DVD format war. Almost all Hollywood movies are likely to be released in high-definition on Sony’s Blue-ray discs in future.
