Fuji Xerox launches management suite for multifunction devices

Fuji Xerox has launched ApeosWare Management Suite, an integrated software to help growing businesses manage their multifunction devices and printers easily from a central server.

The company says that it has developed the suite to address a host of challenges, such as device management, usage tracking and control, curbing misuse, security concerns and more.

Fuji Xerox says that, with the software, organisations can manage a small network of device from a single PC server. As the network grows, users may upgrade by installing the modules they need on different servers.

In addition, organisations are able to gain total control in device and output management via the software’s four modules that are designed to enhance data security, improve productivity, reduce costs and save the environment by tracking and controlling usage.

Device Management

Acting as the central management control for all multifunction devices and printers, the Device Management module allows administrators to activate settings for all devices from one server. Changes can be made quickly and with its user-friendly web-based interface, configurations can be done anywhere, any time. Maintenance tools, such as diagnostic utilities and an update service, are also provided so administrators can resolve problems quickly and easily.

Authentication Management 

As staff numbers expand, the ability to maintain document confidentiality and information security becomes increasingly difficult. With Authentication Management, organisations are able to easily enforce strict controls over copy, print, scan and fax usage by individual users or groups. It can also restrict the usage of devices and set quota on prints and copies.

The Apeosware Management Suite also provides an additional security layer to guard against misuse and to monitor usage. Its ability to integrate with the existing Active Directory, LDAP makes authentication easier to administer, implement and manage. This encourages users to be more cautious when printing confidential data. 
 
Log Management

Usage tracking is a breeze as Log Management collates job logs from every device to generate reports showing usage trends and highlighting areas where costs can be reduced, claimed Fuji Xerox. This is made even easier through the use of a user-friendly web browser. Within minutes, one is able to track the who, what, when, where and how of each document, via an easy-to-read format or graph.

Print Management

Meanwhile, the Print Management module gives organisations control over print jobs. With the On Demand printing feature users can retrieve print jobs from anywhere in the office, and even in remote locations. By requiring authentication, wastage is reduced by limiting printing to authorise users. It also ensures high security with confidential printouts accessible only to pre-determined users.

Other features include Distributed Print, which fully utilises print resources by allowing print jobs to be distributed to a pre-defined group of devices. This reduces print time and improves productivity. In addition, Alternative Print allows users to reroute print jobs to another printer should the intended one be out of order. Policies such as compulsory print in duplex or in mono colour may also be imposed. This not only reduces paper and ink costs, it also helps cut down on unnecessary printouts, which is greener for the environment.
