Walker Group, a footwear retailer based in Hong Kong, has gone live on the latest version of the Lawson enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for the fashion industry. Walker Group is using the system to help improve business process controls across its operations.
Walker Group was established in 1990 as a footwear wholesaler. In 1993, the company moved into the retail business and opened its first footwear specialist store under the Walker Shop brand. In 2000, the group moved into mainland China to tap the expanding domestic Chinese market. Since then, the company has grown and operates more than 700 sales points, primarily through its own retail stores.
Prior to using the Lawson Fashion solution, Walker Group was using an outdated software system that did not provide adequate business reporting for the company. After a thorough selection process, the company started implementing the Lawson system in January 2009. In December 2009, the company went live on the Lawson system for its Hong Kong-based operations, replacing its outdated legacy system.
"With the best quality, in-depth knowledge of the footwear market and great expertise in footwear design, Walker Group is committed to providing total customer satisfaction by selling a wide range of brands and styles for men, women and kids,” said Kenneth Kiu, CEO, Walker Group. “This Lawson implementation helps us raise customer service levels by giving us better control across our inventory, sales and distribution and point-of-sales systems.”
“We also take comfort knowing that we’ve invested in a leading edge solution for the fashion and footwear industry that will serve as the foundation for our company’s growth. The next phase of our project is to roll the solution out to our mainland China operations,” added Kiu.
Currently, Walker Group uses the Lawson solution for supply chain management, order management, inventory management, procurement, and finance.
